Understanding Agent Activity and Transparency
How owners can review agent activity, tool usage, and decision flow while keeping visitor chat clean.
Agent Activity and Transparency
Anakin gives workspace owners a clear view of what agents are doing, which tools they used, and where a conversation needs improvement.
What Owners Can See
During testing and review, you can inspect helpful activity signals:
- Which tool was used.
- Whether the agent found relevant knowledge.
- What action was completed.
- Whether a handoff or follow-up is needed.
How It Works
Owner Chat
When you chat with your agent from the Dashboard:
1. Tool activity is shown in a clear timeline.
2. Important actions are highlighted.
3. Results are summarized so you can quickly review outcomes.
4. You can add corrections or new rules when needed.
Visitor Chat
Visitors see a polished customer-facing experience. Background activity stays out of the way unless you choose to show a simplified progress indicator.
Example Review Flow
| Signal | What It Tells You |
|--------|-------------------|
| Knowledge used | The answer was grounded in your uploaded materials |
| Tool completed | A lead, booking, order, or inbox item was created |
| Handoff needed | A human should review or reply |
| Missing context | Add a rule or knowledge item to improve future answers |
Configuration
Enable Activity Display
1. Go to agent settings
2. Toggle Show activity timeline
3. Choose visibility level
Visibility Options
- Owner only: Only you see activity details (recommended)
- Simplified visitor progress: Visitors see friendly status updates
- Hidden: Activity details stay out of the chat UI
Best Practices
- Use during testing: Review activity when tuning agent behavior.
- Keep visitor chat clean: Show only what helps the customer.
- Review regularly: Use activity signals to improve instructions and knowledge.
